# Vego vs Infinite Cedar Raised Bed: Modular Metal or Cedar Frame? > Compare the Vego Garden 17-inch modular metal bed with the Infinite Cedar 4x4-foot wooden frame: dimensions, depth, assembly, and practical trade-offs. Canonical: https://mizaanhome.com/en-us/compare/vego-vs-infinite-cedar-raised-bed/ Last updated: 2026-10-06 **Verdict:** The two beds are priced within five dollars of each other. Choose Vego Garden ($159.95) if you want 17-inch sidewalls and layout flexibility across six configurations from one kit, or choose Infinite Cedar ($164.00) if you prefer a nominal 4x4-foot frame that the seller describes as untreated Western Red Cedar. --- We may earn a commission from our links; this guide is based on published information, not hands-on testing. ## Modular metal or classic cedar frame? At the September 22, 2026 check, the Vego Garden 17-Inch 6-in-1 modular bed was $159.95 and the Infinite Cedar 4x4-foot bed was $164.00, so the purchase price difference is just $4.05. Because upfront cost is essentially equal, your choice hinges on material, sidewall height, and footprint flexibility. Both beds provide perimeter frames to contain raised garden soil. Horticultural guidance from the [University of Maryland Extension on raised beds](https://extension.umd.edu/resource/growing-vegetables-raised-beds) recommends locating garden beds on level, well-drained ground. ## Sidewall height: 17 inches versus 11 inches The two models have different sidewall heights: - **Vego Garden (17 inches)**: The metal sidewalls measure 17 inches, six inches taller than the cedar frame. - **Infinite Cedar (11 inches)**: The frame has 11-inch sides. Its nominal footprint does not establish the clear internal planting area. Neither sidewall measurement establishes suitability for a particular crop. Crop and cultivar determine container choice; check rooting-depth needs with your local Extension service, especially for a bed on a hard surface. ## Footprint flexibility: modular assembly versus fixed square How the beds fit your garden plot involves distinct assembly designs: - **Vego Garden 6-in-1 versatility**: The seller states that Vego's metal panels fasten together into six configurations from one kit, with rounded corners. Because the assembled footprint varies by configuration, total soil volume requirements depend on which layout you choose. - **Infinite Cedar 4x4-foot fixed frame**: The seller states that Infinite Cedar supplies pre-cut, pre-drilled boards for bolt assembly into a nominal 4x4-foot square. Note that the 1-inch board thickness slightly reduces the interior planting space compared to the nominal exterior footprint. ## Materials and assembly Compare these listed materials and assembly requirements: - **Coated steel panels**: Vego panels feature an advertised zinc, magnesium, and aluminum coating over steel, paired with protective edging for the upper rim. The seller describes a fastening assembly. - **Untreated Western Red Cedar**: Infinite Cedar uses solid Western Red Cedar boards, which the seller states are not pressure treated and carry no added chemicals. The seller also states the boards are made in the USA and arrive pre-cut and pre-drilled for bolt assembly. Inspect the boards and joints over time; the listing does not establish a service life for your soil and climate. ## The site can outweigh the small price difference Mark out both candidate footprints, including paths, before deciding. Vego's six configurations are alternative arrangements of one kit, not six beds. Pick the arrangement before estimating fill. Infinite Cedar's fixed square is simpler to plan around, but the external 4x4-foot label is not the clear planting area. [University of Georgia Extension](https://fieldreport.caes.uga.edu/publications/C1027-4/raised-garden-bed-dimensions/) explains that taller beds need more imported soil and that reach and access paths belong in the layout. Extra fill can matter more to your project budget than the $4.05 item-price difference here. Neither a metal coating nor the cedar name establishes a guaranteed lifespan. ## Summary: which should you choose? - Choose the **Vego Garden 17-inch bed ($159.95)** if you want 17-inch sidewalls, protective corner edging, and the ability to assemble six configurations from one kit. - Choose the **Infinite Cedar bed ($164.00)** if you want a nominal 4x4-foot frame with the seller-stated untreated Western Red Cedar construction and US manufacture. ## Related gardening guides and reviews For a broader evaluation across other styles and price brackets, see our [best raised garden beds guide](/en-us/best/best-raised-garden-bed/) or review tier breakdowns in our [raised garden bed price analysis](/en-us/prices/raised-garden-bed-prices/).
